What’s the big deal about charcuterie, anyway?

Yup, it’s a thing.

Charcuterie is a term with origins reaching as far back as 15th century France. Literally translated, it means the products of a fancy pork butcher. Modern charcuterie may include pork, but the definition has widened to reflect a serving style enjoyed across diverse cultures and cuisines.

Like many traditional foods that are making a comeback, charcuterie is a culinary art developed from necessity; it is the way meats were preserved long before the days of refrigeration. And just like pickles, fermented vegetables, home-brewed beer and kombucha, charcuterie has been revived and brought front and center by the traditional food movement… and frankly, we couldn’t be happier!

Ordering:

How far in advance do I need to place my board order?
We accept orders within 48-hours of your event time/date. Daily cut-off time for new orders is 6pm. For larger gatherings, we ask that you order at least five days prior to your event date.

I don’t entertain much / I’m kinda new at this. Can Peckish help me figure it out?
This is our favorite thing to do! We love creating the right solution for every occasion. Don’t be afraid to reach out. We can help you choose your cheese. And your crackers, and your dips… and pretty soon it’s a party!

Can I hire Peckish for recurring meetings or corporate events?
Yes! We’d love to bring our boards to your boardroom. We can arrange monthly or weekly service for your recurring meetings at a negotiated rate. If you don’t see the right thing on our Order page, please Contact us to discuss your specific needs.

Delivery:

Where does Peckish deliver?
We deliver within a 10 mile radius of our Arlington, TX kitchen for a flat $10 fee. If you are outside that perimeter, additional charges will apply.

Does Peckish deliver every day of the week?
Peckish currently delivers Tuesdays through Saturdays. We operate from 10am to 4pm daily, and are closed Sundays and Mondays.

Can I choose a specific delivery time for my order?
We deliver daily, and make every effort to arrive within a scheduled 3-hour window. We cannot guarantee delivery times, due to weather conditions, traffic, wild animals, twisters and other circumstances beyond our control. If you require more precise timing, we recommend that you pick up your order.

Does Peckish offer vegan and gluten-free options?
Yes! We create every board specially. If you are interested in vegan or gluten-free options, please check the substitutions list on our Menus page, and let us know when ordering.

Can I choose what’s on my Peckish board?
Every Peckish board is seasonal and custom-curated. All ingredients are chef’s choice, however, you may request up to three preferred ingredients from our classic charcuterie menu, as well as vegan and gluten-free substitutions.

Do you have nut-free options?
For the safety of our customers, we cannot guarantee the omission of nuts or nut products from our boards.

General:

How long can I store my board? Will it keep it in the fridge?
For best quality results, we recommend refrigerating your board no more than 12 hours prior to your event. Unfinished boards may be stored in the fridge for up to 48 hours, after which leftovers should be discarded.

Will my Peckish board look just like your photos?
Definitely not. It will be even more glorious! Every board is an adventure and a custom-build. The photos on our site are only samples of similar sizes and similar ingredients to the board you will receive. Rest assured, the overall aesthetic will be spot-on and we won’t be happy unless you’re happy.

What do I do with the serving board after my gathering?
Peckish likes to “keep it green” and we refuse single-use and/or disposable products. We will pick up your board or tray within a week after your event. A damaged or unreturned board will result in a charge to your account to replace it.

Does Peckish have a location I can visit? At the moment, we do not have a public storefront, but follow us on social media for future updates!
